An interview by Miriam Mircea and Ioana Raluca Popescu

Our new and fresh website needed to come back with a bang, which is exactly what we did, offering you a special, one of a kind interview with Mr. David Haydn-Jones, an actor who quickly became a favorite of younger audiences as well, thanks to his role in the Supernatural series, season 12.
We believe that right now he’s one of the “hot topics” debated by fandoms worldwide. He’s landed a great part in a very long-lasting TV show, which probably most of you know of, if not, even watched. CW’s Supernatural made the right move when it accepted in its loving arms a new type of villain, played by David Haydn-Jones.

Imagine a world where monsters do roam the face of the earth and amid the chaos, there’s this Bond character. But, wait for it, he’s not a good guy, he’s actually reppin’ for the baddies. So, this character, Arthur Ketch, looks amazingly polished and put together, is very well-spoken, has a stiff sexy British accent and keeps his cool while slaying and butchering without blinking.
Underneath all that coolness and toughness, there is still a beating heart, somehow looking for love. After all, don’t we all want to be loved?

So, David’s character delivers it all: punches and kisses, but not in equal amount. However, we don’t want to digress or spoil anything for you. If you have been with us during these last four years, you would know how interested we are in anything comics related. This interview is constructed around the same topic.

We would love to hear what you think and how much you have started to like and appreciate David Haydn-Jones, so please feel free to comment and share this interview.

1. You've starred in two cult TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. What attracts you and the audience to a character tied to the supernatural world?

DHJ: I’ve been very fortunate to get to play in this genre. I didn’t plan it because as an actor, for much of our careers we don’t have control over the roles that we are offered. Having said that, what I love about these roles and worlds is that the rules of the universe are limitless. Anything can and does happen and that allows the “make believe” to be really fun.

2. What are your most fond memories from comic cons and what are your worst comic con experiences?

DHJ: Well I’ve only done three thus far, and luckily for me they’ve all been amazing experiences. Nothing bad. Just a lot of love, kindness, laughs and community. A really inspiring fun, family environment.

3. Many actors are now connected to DC and Marvel movies. Would you like to play a superhero or a villain and for which franchise?

DHJ: I would love to somehow find my way into the Batman franchise or anything to do with the world of Gotham. I feel that world, even though full of fantastical characters, has the most grounding in reality.

4. Fans talk about being part of the Supernatural family. Do you feel part of it, too?

DHJ: I am PROUD to say I do. Even though I play a baddie, many people online and at the conventions have all said “welcome to the family”, so I guess that makes it official.  After I do some more conventions I think the connection will really start to form.  It’s been an amazing show to work on, but the audience is something I never could have imagined! Wonderful.

5. You’ve stated that James Bond was an influence in the way you shaped Mr. Ketch’s character. Would you like playing James Bond in the future or appearing in a Bond movie?

DHJ: I would LOVE to play BOND, but somehow I don’t think that’s in the cards for me, knowing the hierarchy of how show business works.  All I can say is that Ketch was the role of a lifetime and I was able to play out so many childhood fantasies in this role.

6. If Mr. Ketch had some superhero powers, what would those be?

DHJ: Hmmm…If Mr. Ketch had a super power, I’d like to think the hand Tattoo had some kind of supernatural power or magic in it. I guess we’ll never know.

7. What would be the one piece of advice you’d give aspiring actors?

DHJ: The advice is true for any job you aspire to. Practice, work hard and understand the market place. Study is key but also, going out and not waiting for the job. Take out your phone and learn how to make a movie yourself and edit it. You learn so much from just DOING it.

8. Have you ever been to Eastern Europe? Would you like to visit Romania?

DHJ: I have not been to Eastern Europe yet.  I once dated a beautiful Romanian named Raluca and she taught me some Romanian so hopefully some day I’ll get to practice it in her homeland.
