A Vampire Chronicles playlist

I Want my IWTV is this awesome Tumblr blog and a true beacon of light for all of us Vampire Chronicle fans. Almost two years now and still no word on the script and movies – 2014 was the year we had the official news, Universal holds now the rights for Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, so far…silence. We’re the fandom which endures and waits.

The question an Anon asked was which songs remind us of the Vampire Chronicles characters and pairings. I Want my IWTV encouraged the fans to reblog and have a say on their favorite tunes so here I am with a list of my own.

I take it you’re familiar with the Interview With the Vampire and Queen of the Damned – thou shall not consider this movie canon but the music was good – and with “Moon Over Bourbon Street”, Sting dedication for IWTV. And some of you know and have heard the tunes from the Broadway play, “Lestat”. If you haven’t, Youtube, iTunes and your choice of player are your friends.

Back to the playlist, I do have a few special songs:

For the atmosphere, a song perfect for the whole cast, Digital Daggers “Bleed for me”.

You won’t hear the footsteps
But I’ll be following
You won’t feel the shadows
But they’ll be closing in
You won’t see me coming
But I’ll rip you at the seams

Yup, it’s a Hannibal Lecter tribute, maybe fingers crossed Mads Mikkelsen will end up on the casting call of VC.

The Pierces with “Kings”, hey since we have a new vampire monarchy, this song fits the Court:

RAIGN – Knocking on Heaven’s Door. Again, this one works like a charm for Lestat and Louis – and Lucifer Morningstar delivered an amazing piano cover of this song. It fits for Lestat at the end of “Queen of the Damned” and “Memnoch the Devil”

Alabama 3’s Too Sick to Pray is my head for a good time now a perfect tune for Nicolas De Lenfent.

Rolling Stones with “Paint it Black”. Simply because it works with the sass and mood of the characters.

Here is something for Magnus. Jean-Jacques Goldman with “Tournent les violons”:

Something for the ladies of Vampire Chronicles. The Sisters of Mercy with “Lucretia, My Reflection”

Lestat and Louis during their New Orleans life.

When I thought that I’d fought this war alone, you were there by my side on the front line.
And we thought to believe the impossible.
